F/M-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Optional Practical Training provides the ability to work off-campus independent of your curriculum; however, work on OPT must be related to your academic program of study. OPT may take place before or after the completion of your degree. This type of permission requires a recommendation from ISSS followed by approval from the US government to participate.F-1 Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) academic program must either require a work experience or provide an elective option for you to earn credit for a work experience. CPT may only take place before to the completion of your degree and requires authorization from ISSS.J-1 Student Academic Training
J-1 students may be eligible to work off-campus to gain work experience in their field of study through Academic Training.
